General dentistry covers the everyday care that keeps teeth and gums healthy, and the treatment of common dental problems when they happen. A general dentist is usually the first point of contact for dental care, from routine check-ups to fillings, extractions and replacing missing teeth, and coordinates referral to a specialist when it is needed.
Our general dental services
- Preventative dentistry: check-ups, cleans, X-rays, fluoride and fissure sealants.
- Restorative dentistry and extractions: fillings, root canal treatment, crowns, bridges, dentures and extractions.
- Children’s dentistry: check-ups and treatment for children of any age, including the Child Dental Benefits Schedule.
- Wisdom teeth: assessment and removal, with higher-risk cases referred.
- Gum disease treatment: professional and deep cleaning, and regular maintenance.
- Splints and snoring devices: custom night guards for grinding, and devices for snoring and sleep apnoea.

Oral health and general health
The mouth is closely connected with the rest of the body. Gum disease has been associated with other health conditions, including diabetes and heart disease, and some medicines and medical conditions affect the teeth and gums. Keeping the teeth and gums healthy is one part of looking after your overall health.
General dentistry at White Pearl Dental Care
White Pearl Dental Care is a general dental practice in Blacktown, seeing adults and children since 2003. The clinic has Cone Beam CT, digital X-rays including OPG, and an iTero digital scanner, so most care can be provided at the practice.
When we refer
Some treatment is best provided by a registered specialist, and we refer when it is needed: for example, higher-risk wisdom tooth removal, root canal treatment where the canals are calcified (blocked), implants that need bone grafting or a sinus lift, advanced or aggressive gum disease, and complex orthodontic cases and those that need airway assessment.
Dental pain or a broken tooth
Toothache, swelling, or a broken or knocked tooth should be checked by a dentist as soon as possible. Please call first thing on (02) 8814 9888.
